60 ft. Dolls Cymbal
Newport punk band the 60 Ft Dolls were at the forefront of Newport’s thriving music scene in the mid-1990s. In 1996, the Dolls shot the music video for ‘Talk to me’ on Newport Transporter Bridge. During filming, a cymbal was broken and can be seen being thrown in the video. The cymbal was later recovered, put aside and forgotten. The cymbal and its significance have only recently come to light. With the help of the Friends of Newport Museum and Art Gallery, the cymbal has been purchased for the collections of Newport Museum to help tell the story of Newport in the 1990s.
